The Captain is still AWOL, so Cabin Boy Tom’s news again this week……
Apologies once again for a slightly delayed weekly update!
This week!
- The Shugborough Relays took place!
- Not much else happened!
There were many spectacular performances from our Chasers contingent at Shugborough, and there are far too many individuals to mention. All those who attended should form a large back-patting circle. There are some special mentions however. Our fastest, and also third fastest times belonged to Phillipe Gonzalez, who appears to have been flown in just for this purpose. He earns himself an unusual double pat on the back. Gareth Little also put in an extremely good effort and earns a pat on the back for himself.
Top lady Amy Thompson also wins a pat on the back for her efforts, as do fastest juniors Henry Webb and Holly Stodgell. Special mention also to Alfie Spencer for equalling the time of Matt Hartland, who I sincerely hope was saving himself for his second run. Finally, Bob Dredge approaches the record for most consecutive weekly pats on the back for his excellent run.
The only event I can find this weekend is the West Midlands Park Championship on Sunday. This is near Birmingham and appears to be a sort of novice/walker friendly event, so experienced orienteers looking for an easy win are encouraged to enter. Details here – http://www.coboc.org.uk/documents/phpf%20details.pdf
Ed [NOC have the Nottingham Urban Race on Sunday: http://www.noc-uk.org/NOC.aspx]
Due to the dearth of other events in near future I have been searching for larger events in the more distant future; and a sprinkling of these are:
- Croeso 2016 – Entries are officially closed but Fabian4 appears to be accepting more so you might get lucky. http://www.croesomultiday.org.uk/2016
- The Liverpool Big Weekend – Consisting of long and urban races early in September. https://liverpoolbigweekend.wordpress.com/
- The PFO HotPot – Consisting of urban and long races in mid September. http://www.pfo.org.uk/events
Have a truly wonderful week,
Tom
