Captains Weekly 18th September 2016

agm2016

Another week another downpour.  With that in mind a massive “”pat on the back” to Holly and Sally Hughes who put the training controls out in Tuesday’s monsoon and still smiled afterwards.  Heroine is an understatement.

With the O season picking up again last weekend saw a number of Chasers in London taking part in one or more of the three races.   In Saturdays race around South East London while there were several good runs no one made the top 20.  On Sunday in the race around Soho Cath nearly made it into the top 20 finishing in 25th place among very strong competition.

While all this was happening three of us were near Kingussie in Scotland running around fabulous forests.  I managed my top “ranking point” score of the year in the middle distance race and finished 11th in the Sprint race.  Christine went one better and finished 10th in the sprint race.

Meanwhile in Leicestershire our very young team of Heather C, Holly H, Adam M, Alfie S, Holly S and Henry W finished in a very good 16th position against older and more experienced orienteers in the Peter Palmer relays..  Well done all.  In fact Alfie came 9th on his leg and Holly S was a great 5th best on her leg.

At the Army event at Clent on wednesday I came 9th on the Blue, closely followed by Neil Pollitt in 10th place while John Robinson won the Green course and Christine finished 6th.  Alas, it was not all glory as Alison ended up in plaster after damaging her ankle.  Get well soon.

Tuesday training recommences this week in Walton School gym at 7pm.  I have been trying to radically change the training by getting us a Pilates teacher to take us through our stretches and bending but as of yet I have not been able to book anyone.  If you know a possible teacher ask them if they would like a bit more work.  Please note that due to very low numbers we will not have the swimming pool any more.

The only event next week is a DVO event at Chinley Churn neay Whaley Bridge.  This has pre-entry at

fabian4.co.uk or entry on the day.
