Captain’s Weekly 3rd July 2016

TomCabinBoyActually not Captain, but ‘Cabin Boy Tom’s’ Weekly news:
Welcome everybody to the second half of 2016; I hope you have all made the most of the last six months.

This Tuesday will see another score event based this time at Chase Vista, details as always are on the website. Afterwards, Jon Howell has been kind enough to offer showers and a fish and chip run at his house to celebrate his retirement. I can scarcely believe he’s old enough.

There are in fact score events for the next three Tuesdays, culminating with the next domination race on the 19th. Anyone wanting to improve their decision making and timekeeping skills is encouraged to attend.

Yesterday saw POTOC’s urban event in beautiful Leek. Kristian Roberts will be extremely pleased to be the recipient of this week’s first pat on the back. He came home just in front of James Bennett on course 1, with Sam Naylor not far behind. John Robinson and Sarah Dredge put in great performances to take silver medals on courses 4 and 5 respectively, and more importantly earn solid pats on the back. On course 2, Bob Dredge put in a strong performance to finish 4th amongst runners nearly half his age. Jon Howell claimed 4th on course 3, with Andy Yeates in 6th, and Ricardo Fernandes a strong 22nd.

Don’t forget that this Wednesday sees the rescheduled Shugborough Relays. Entries are now officially closed, but unofficially open, so if you fancy a nice two mile jog around beautiful Shugborough, please let Sarah Dredge know. Otherwise come down and watch, it’s always a fun evening. The race starts at 7.30 but arrive well before that.

I can’t see any nearby races this coming weekend, so if you have anything planned please come down on Tuesday and let me know.
