“Pats on the back” are numerous this week for several reasons. First reason Success. Well done Bob Dredge for a podium place at the British Championships coming 3rd on M65. Other top ten finishes for Iain Stamp, 6th, and Mike Barnby, 8th, both on the M35 and for Carol Dredge 8th on the W60 course. The second reason, Perseverance. To all our numerous members who ran for over 2 hours and still finished their course. The third reason, extra perseverance to Holly Hughes who finished her course in 214 minutes and 34 seconds taking 91.28 on one leg alone BUT a W45 BKO eclipsed this time and finished her course in 309:36 or in English, five hours and nine minutes. You have a long way to go yet Holly. The area was very physically and mentally challenging so welll done to everybody who finished with a smile.
The relays were held today where Iain Stamp, Mark Stodgell and Mike Barnby came a brilliant third in the Mens Short, so a “pat” for them, Alas, as of yet the results are not out so I cannot comment.
Events coming up are:
TOMORROW there is the Urban race in Tamworth. Entry on the day is possible and your help will be appreciated. Starts from 11am until 2pm.
Next Sunday 8th, the re-arranged Mansty Wood event takes place. A great area, fantastic courses and sunny weather, be there. Again, your help will be appreciated.
There is no training this Tuesday but there will be a run from Chase Road corner at 7pm. If you fancy a mid week orienteering fix the Wrekin have an event on Tuesday evening while both OD and LEI have an event on Wednesday evening. Details on their web sites. On May 10th Tuesday training is at Satnall Hills.
If you would like a run at the West Midland Relays being held at Shoal Hill I need to know by May 12th.
