Above are links to the final results. The results are complete apart from the missing name and club of a runner on the blue course. Thank you for your patience during the event.
Planners Comments
This was my first time at planning, I hope you all found the courses enjoyable. Looking at the results it seems that the white and yellow courses may have been slightly on the short side, the spread of times on the other courses would suggest that the courses were set at about the right level.
I had to balance the openness of Ansons bank, with the potential for quick times, against the effect of the energy sapping heather and climb on the longer courses. Courses were planned to attempt to avoid subsequent runners seeing and following other runners into controls. First controls were placed beyond the initial tree belts and subsequent controls dropped into and out of reentrants. This caused some courses to become quite strenous.
Judging by the comments overheard at the finish most people seemed to have enjoyed (survived?) my first go at planning.
Thanks must go to my dad who spent a lot his time assisting with the planning, programming SI units while I was at work and putting out controls. Mum for putting up with him when things were not going right or he was away on the Chase. Doug Peel for our first lessons in the use of Ocad and Cath and Mark Stodgell for acting as IT consultants. Thanks also to Mark Garside for coming to the rescue when we found the SI manager programme we had downloaded did not work.
Also to the band of volunteers, Claire and David Bushnell, Chris Boycott, Ray Collins, Emily Garside, Alan Williams, Mum, dad and sister Amy for collecting in controls at the end. Finally to everybody who turned up and made all our work worthwhile.
Jo.
