Organisers Comments
Firstly, thanks to Dennis who took over the organisers' duties on the day.
I 'volunteered' to organise this event, my first, over 12 months ago when it was a simple C5. It subsequently took on C4 status, followed by its incorporation into a West Midland League Fixture. Now I was seriously having doubts as to my ability to get this right. Then came the added complication that I had to take my daughter down to the November Classic on the same day. Thankfully Dennis offered to take over on the day..
It is easy to take for granted all the effort put in by a lot of people working away behind the scenes, until you have to organise the event yourself. My thanks go to all the members of Walton Chasers who so enthusiastically responded to my calls and willingly gave their time. I hope everybody who wanted a run managed to get one.
A special thanks must also go to Jane Christopher for her support and encouragement during the 'dark days' when I felt I really did not know what I was doing.
This was Claires first time at planning, I know she also suffered a crisis of confidence at some stages (I think it was when we were told it was to be a League Event) but congratulations to her for sticking with it
By the feedback I have heard since, weather apart, (for those caught up in the heavy 'showers'), everything appears to have gone well and I hope you all enjoyed yourselves.
Finally, thanks to Stodge who had the results posted on the Web site by 3:45pm.

Planner?s Report
Although I found some limitations on Brindley, it was a contained, easily accessible area on which to start my planning experience. Despite the torrential downpour half way through the event, the general feedback was positive despite some very soggy maps! Apologies for the ?dog legs? on the Brown - next time on a similar small area I would utilise a second map. A last minute adrenalin rush occurred when 2 controls on the White disappeared 10 minutes after putting them out; how someone can get satisfaction from collecting a 'trophy' at 9 o'clock on a Sunday a.m. still mystifies me - thanks to Diane and David for searching the bracken and finding one of them later. Without the help and support of Doug, Mark S, Mark G and the hours David spent in front of the computer, I would have given up on the IT aspect of the planning - I can happily spend hours looking at maps and walking the area. Must also thank all those who helped with the controls and Norman for his invaluable support throughout.

Controllers Comments
Our first time planner Claire is to be congratulated on weaving seven courses into this rather small area. Inevitably there had to be many controls and short legs if long path runs were to be avoided, but this seems to have worked out to general satisfaction. She had to contend with a surprising amount of 'office' work. The provision of SI-punching and now over-printed maps is fine for competitors but it all seems to fall on the planner's shoulders. Perhaps it?s time for another post; an 'e-planner'. He need never set foot in the forest but must be quick and confident on the computer.
