Elaine was one of the very early members of Walton Chasers, and was an active member for many years, and still made regular appearances at the Club Dinner, even when confined to a wheelchair. Elaine’s funeral is on Tuesday 26th at Stafford Crematorium at 3.30. Condolences from all Chasers to Elaine’s family.

UPDATE 5th October – despite the weather forecast the event will be on. Just come prepared to get a bit wet!!
By alison, on September 15th, 2019 Another day another podium! Today was the British Middle Champs on Chinley Churn, near New Mills in Derbyshire. The stand-out performance for Chasers was Oscar, who was 3rd on M12, just pipping 4th place by 3 seconds. Great result Oscar!
By alison, on September 14th, 2019 Today was the British Sprint Champs held on Loughborough University campus. It was a lovely sunny and warm day, perfect for running and ideal for socialising between the heats and finals too. We had 6 runners who got to the ‘A’ finals for their class – Vicky (W35), Cath (W45), Carol (W60), Dan (M35), Jonathan (M65) and John (M65).
In the finals, Vicky had a fantastic run and made it on to the podium in 3rd place. Well done Vicky!

17 Chasers raced in the bi-annual Scottish 6 Days, this year held in Strathearn in mid Scotland. The weather was incredibly kind and it was warm, dry and sunny which made the event a great holiday festival of orienteering. The areas were good, with some real technical challenges, and pretty good underfoot conditions. Even the infamous Craig a Barns, last used for JK2012, was a pleasant surprise this time around! We had some great performances, with 3 Chasers in the top 10 overall positions: Dan Findlay-Robinson came =1st on M35S (pictured – credit Andy Johnson), Rhys Findlay-Robinson was an impressive 4th on M21E, and Sally Hughes was 9th on W45S. We had plenty of other top 10 positions on individual days: M21E – Rhys picking up a 3rd and 2nd – no mean feet in a strong international field. M35S – Dan won Days 1, 3 and 4. M55S – Andy got a 4th and 8th, M65S – John 2nd and 6th, W16A – Holly S and 8th, 9th, and 10th, W20S – Holly H a 5th, 8th and 8th, W45S – Sally 5th, 8th, and 6th, and in W50S – Alison a 6th place. For the first time, the events were live streamed on the internet, so if you want to see what you missed, head to the Scottish 6 Days website and catch up. We’ll all reconvene at the next Scottish 6 days in Lochaber (Fort William) in summer 2021!
