Chasers at the British Sprint and Middle Champs

Chasers were in Somerset over the weekend, competing in the British Sprint Champs on Saturday and the British Middle Champs on Sunday.
The Sprints on Saturday were held at Bath University, based at the fantastic sports village.  We had lots of top 10 performances.  In the morning, Jonathan won his M65 heat, and Bob was unlucky not to get to the A final, only 43 seconds down on Jon, but in 8th place – it’s tight at the top!  Ray finished a solid 4th in his M60 heat.  In the afternoon, the finals took place, with Jon continuing his good day, finishing on the podium in 2nd on M65, one better that last year – well done Jon!  Bob won his M65B final, Holly got 6th in the W16A final, Cath 4th in the W45A final, and Stodge won the M45B final.
On Sunday, we were at Stockhill near Wells for the Middle Champs.  Just the one top ten place today, but a great one.  Bob had an excellent run to get 2nd place on M65 – just 2 seconds off 1st place.  Well done Bob!
Next year’s Sprints and Middle’s are being organised by our next door club, DVO, so hopefully we’ll see lots more Chasers next September.

Ray’s POTOC success

Today was POTOC’s summer score event attended by a handful of Chasers.  Chasers’ captain Ray Collins, won the prize for the first male Vet with an excellent score and was 6th overall.  There was also the presentation of the trophies from the POTOC summer league, which Ray won the top male vet trophy (pictured).  He was presented with the trophy by POTOC chairman, Jim Cooke.

Chasers at Lakes 5-day

For the last week, a dozen or so Chasers have been competing in the Lakes 5-day event.  We’ve had a whole mix of weather, from monsoon-like rain to blazing sunshine.  We’ve run on high open fell (Silver Howe and Angel Tarn Pikes), low lying fell (Askham), dense forestry plantation (Whinlatter)and steep intricate woodland (Dale Park, Graythwaite). On the overall competition (best 4 days), the star of the week was Dan Findlay-Robinson, who won the M35S class, winning 2 days and coming 3rd on 2 days.  Andy Yeates came an excellent 4th overall in the M55S class.  The other individual star performance was Bob Dredge, who won day 2 high on Angle Tarn.  The rest of us had mixed fortunes!

Domination Sprint Results

Well done and thank you to the Walton High School O club who brilliantly planned and organised the  Sprint Evening around Stafford town centre. There was a Domination Sprint race for all, followed by a chasing sprint for those who had bundles of energy left over, or a non-chasing sprint course for those who had the motivation!

A good time was had by all, and congratulations to Dan who took the Domination victory and Al who took the Chasing Sprint victory after Dans map was suspiciously sabotaged.

Results are here on Routegadet. Please put your route up so the Juniors can get feedback for their planning.

Updated Domination scores will follow, and the next race in the series is on Tuesday 26th June with the Peel Pursuit and BBQ from Jonathan Howells house – look out for details soon.
