By alison, on December 24th, 2012 Last Thursday saw the final round of the 2012 Winter Score League take place around Etchinghill in Rugeley. The run, in cold and wet condtions, was organised by John Robinson, followed by a Christmas Meal at the adjacent Chase Pub organised by Sue. 14 ran, and over 20 came for the meal so a good night out was had by all. Congratulations to Jon and Cath for winning the running classes and Neil L for being top (only) biker. The new year league starts from Ray’s house on January 10th 2013, see you there.

By alison, on December 10th, 2012 Dave Brown organised last Thursday’s Night Score league event from the Turnpike Pub in Lichfield. A good turnout despite the cold and pouring rain has left the overall standings very close with Jon still holding the lead, but 3 contenders in 2nd place. Next event on Thursday 20th at the Chase Pub in Rugeley.

By Stodge, on December 7th, 2012 All,
Over the next week we will be testing some possible new features on the website around the calendar events and logins. Please bear with us if you see some unexpected results.
Thanks
Stodge
By alison, on December 2nd, 2012 The calendar has now been updated with a list of social runs for the Christmas fortnight. There is a run each morning at 10am, even on Christmas Day! Everyone is welcome to come along, whatever your speed / level. Or just go out for a walk and come along for the social.
Also, a reminder not to forget to enter the Mungo Bone (Sat 22nd December) or the Club Champs (Sun 13th January). Have a look at the calendar on the website for the event and entry details or check your latest Attack Point.

With the cold dark wet nights now upon us, gym based technical training this week involves 22 members of all ages (the youngest was 9, the oldest was fifty-something!!) sitting back to back describing a route on a pre-planned course to their partner who then has to put it on a blank map. The courses varied from a technically very easy course on Hednesford Camp through to an almost-impossible course on Pwll Du!
This followed 45 minutes of circuit training, and was followed by a swim, and all for free to club members!
By suew, on November 20th, 2012 Well, the end of the year is fast approaching, which means the inaugural House Team League will soon be officially awarded to one of the teams. I know one team has been out in the lead all year, but the race isn’t over until the last points are counted, so don’t be put off attending any more events this year if you happen to be in one of the trailing teams!
More scores have been added to bring the league tables bang up to date. As ever, if you think I’ve missed anything please let me know (don’t worry, Allan, I have you down as controller for the Castle Vale Urban).
Full details are here, the main table is as follows:
South
|
6649
|
West
|
4720
|
East
|
4549
|
North
|
3497
|
I believe we are planning on running the league again next year – team membership will be recalculated due to the changes in the way BOF membership will work. If anyone has any ideas for how the league could be improved, please send them through to me at secretary@walton-chasers.co.uk. I can’t promise to implement all suggestions, but I can promise to take them all into consideration.

Today the Wightwick Manor National Trust permanent course in Wolverhampton had its soft launch. Using a new map and controls purchased with the Barbara Bradley fund the course will become one of the visitor experiences at the site, helping to promote orienteering and Walton Chasers.
The permanent course is the first of many small local venues the club will be launching over the coming year to support grass roots, local ‘self-service’ orienteering.
