Congratulations to Bob Dredge, on a fantastic 13th place in the M65 Sprint A Final at the World Masters Orienteering Champs. In what looks to have been a very busy Tallinn in Estonia, Bob was just 1 minute 33 seconds off the pace in a field of around 330. WMOC consists of a sprint qualification race and final, followed later in the week by the long qualification races and final. Well done Bob!
Last week saw around 30 Chasers in South Wales for Croeso 2016, the 5-day orienteering festival held every 4 years. This year had 4 races close to Bridgend (2 in the sand dunes of Kenfig and 2 in the woods of Margam) and one on the moorlands above Tredegar. We had a great week, which even 2 days of rain couldn’t dampen, with good orienteering challenges, pretty good underfoot conditions and good organisation from an army of volunteers. There were a lot of great performances, with an overall podium position for Iain Stamp who came 2nd on M35L – well done Iain! Other overall top ten’s were:
3rd – M45S Neil Pollitt
4th – W35S Claire Stamp, W45S Tracy Craig, W55S Christine Collins
6th – M14B George Hughes, M18L Matt Hartland, M65L Bob Dredge, W45S Alison Yeates, W60L Carol Dredge
9th – W18L Gemma Cairns-Smith
10th – W18L Holly Hughes
Special mention should also go to the 3 Chasers who won individual days – Iain Stamp on day 2, Bob Dredge on day 3 and Tracy Craig on day 1.
See you all in Scotland for next year’s 6-day…..
