30.05.05 OD Round the Park Run – Sutton Park 29th June 2005
For many years this event was put on jointly by OD and Chasers – at that time it was held in March. Recently it has clashed with the Shugborough Relays, but this year it doesn’t and perhaps Chasers could give it some support. Full details are on the OD website at www.octavian-droobers.org. The bascis are:
“This event has been held annually since 1967 and is completed by runners, orienteers, joggers and walkers of all ages and levels of fitness. Starting at Sutton Park’s Town Gate you have to visit each of the other six gates in the Park and return to Town Gate. The distance is about 8 miles and involves a mixture of Park road and footpath running. It is not a head-to-head race, so you can start at any time between 5.30 and 7.30, but you will be timed. Seniors £2, juniors £1.”
If you want to run with Chasers, then we propose to meet at Town Gate at 6:45pm.

Come on Chasers and get those entries in by Sunday so that Carol can sort out the teams.
19.04.05 British Champs Weekend 2005
Congratulations to Beth Clayton who won the W40 class in the British Champs. This year’s Championships took place on Penhale Sands near Newquay in Cornwall. A complex area of sand dunes that offer a challenge to even the best orienteers. The individual day on the Saturday was blessed with glorious sunshine and we saw the area at it’s best. The relay championships held on the Sunday morning had the misfortune to be in the midst of strong winds and heavy rain. The club tent (ably held down by Emily and Helen to prevent it blowing away!) was eventually put up and provided much appreciated shelter from the elements. Still, most who ran reckoned that once you were running it was actually quite pleasant…..!
Well done to Amy, Jo and Emily for coming 2nd in the W18 class.

29.03.05 JK Successes for Chasers
Easter weekend saw some excellent individual and relay performances from Chasers.
A special mention must go to the ‘Dream Team’ – 20 years ago, a Chasers Team of Andy Kitchen, Dave Peel, Stephen Palmer and Dave Smith won the JK Open Relays. This year, they decided to give it another go. Dave Smith no longer orienteers, so Bruce Duncan came in to join the team. To everyone’s delight, they came back in an excellent 3rd place – pretty impresssive after 20 years!! The run was dedicated to Peter Palmer and Hilary Duncan.
First places went to Sarah Dredge in W20S and to Jo, Catherine & Emily in the relays. Here are those that made it in to the top 10 in their classes. If I’ve missed anyone, let me know…..
